Musical Director – short profile

"Transforming a song into a unique piece of music needs a distinctive voice. Because singing is more than producing musical notes - singing is passion."Barbara Höfling

This is the Credo of Barbara Höfling, our musical director. And we are lucky that she shares some of that passion with us during our rehearsals. She has broadened our horizons with music ranging from Gospel to contemporary music and musical curiosities. Her coaching gives our singers the means for solo and small ensemble performances and the opportunity to travel abroad.

Her C.V. reflects her versatility and musicality: Barbara Höfling was born in Hanover and studied violin, conducting and singing at the Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater Hannover. Amongst other engagements she was a soloist with the NDR Radio Choir, the Staats- and Domchor Berlin, the Domchoeren in Magdeburg and Hildesheim and the university choirs of Leipzig, Goettingen and Clausthal. Her musical development was mainly influenced by working with Simon Rattle, J. E. Gardiner and Sophia Gubaidulina. Among other choirs she regularly performed on international stages with the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin, the Berlin Radio Choir and the Monteverdi Choir. Her passions for chansons and the music of different epochs can be heard and felt during her live performances and on her recently published CD with Lieder by Schubert, Schumann and Fauré.
